• Nokia X6 Comes With Music

Despite the wealth of features, compared to its rivals the Symbian OS looks old and neglected.

"Nokia's X6 smartphone is more than just another touch screen smartphone in an overcrowded market. In its 32GB form, this well-spec'd music phone will only be available with Nokia's Comes With Music package. It'll be hard to avoid, and is likely to benefit from aggressive subsidies."

Aesthetically I think it'd be unfair to say the handset doesn't look nice. It does. The review demonstrates pretty clearly, though, that S60 is not a modern touch OS.

The review is spot on about a lot of things, but then he makes some seriously dumb comments ie "There's nothing to indicate the importance of the central Menu key" Yeah apart from it being the central menu key, I'd see the point if it wasn't the middle button, but really? Also he called it Series 60 Fifth Edition, technically it isn't wrong, but only a rube would write it that way.

X6 without music will sell more than the comes with music model, the price difference is £299 for 16gb without or £449 for 32gb with comes with music

Hm, yes, I would imagine the £299 handset-only package would be a better seller. It's a shame CWM hasn't taken off, it was a bold move, if not a little desperate.

who is the target market for this, the 5800 is still selling, and with v40 firmware is now a very decent performer.

the 5530 and 5230 are both positioned at the lowest part of the market, £99 touchscreens with wifi and auto focus or 3g and gps with ovi maps.

People who bought a 5800 when it was released will be coming up on 12 months, so quite a few of them might opt for the X6. Also Nokia only has mid to low end touchscreen phones, if you ignore the N97, N97 Mini and N900, which are qwerty keyboard bearing touchscreen phones, so the X6 slots into the range quite nicely.

it's the first capacitive screen launched for s60 Symbian^1 and probably the last for Symbian^1

S60 Symbian^2 is being skipped and S60 Symbian^3 is being launched come 3Q 2010, will we see a multitouch touchscreen before Symbian^4?
    1. The Mullet of G's Avatar
Yup I was reading that earlier. From what I gather Symbian^3 will support multi-touch, but as always until Nokia confirm this its neither here nor there.
